Hello! We're glad you're here. Please feel free to introduce yourself in Comments.
Quince Cottage is dedicated to sharing our vision for turning a cookie-cutter suburban house into a distinctive and beautiful home. For us, "Cottage" translates to cozy and unpretentious, a place where people can let their hair down, and dogs can snooze on the furniture (see below). Why "Quince"? The quince is a Southern garden staple which thrives almost no matter where it's planted. It's a bit old-fashioned, a touch exotic, and it's beautiful. Some types even fruit!
Variety is the spice of life, right? So, with that in mind this blog will offer something different each and every time you stop by: design ideas, home selling/buying tips, "keeper" recipes, gardening success stories (and probably a few fiascoes too), and cute doggie pictures...
Aren't these two of the most adorable pups you ever did see? They're brother and sister Irish Jack Russell Terriers. Daisy is also known as Miss Daisy, Daisy May, and The Boss. Buster was once called "Pork Chop" by his vet. Clearly she doesn't recognize burly when she sees it.
Buster & Daisy © Rhiann Wynn-Nolet More About Us...
We're a husband and wife who moved from Kennebunkport, Maine to a small town southeast of Raleigh, NC back in June of 2013. Without saying exactly when we got married, we can tell you it's been a good long time! We met in Boston while we were attending art school and since then we've owned and decorated one old house and three new ones. Painting/faux painting, wallpapering, stripping/refinishing, tiling, yep, we've done it.
Ron is a designer and furniture sales person at Whitley Gallery in Zebulon,NC. He's also a Realtor® with Fonville Morisey in Raleigh. Check out his Professional Realtor® Page and his Pinterest page (Rhiann has one too, we share decorating/gardening/cooking boards). His clients benefit from his attention to detail, his passion for design, and his uncanny ability to re-imagine the most uninspired, awkward spaces. He's an animal lover too, so Rhiann knew he didn't really mean it when he said he'd divorce her if she brought home two Jack Russell Terriers. Daisy had him wrapped around her little paw in no time flat, by the way. Well, who could resist faces like this anyway?

When Ron met Rhiann he was shocked to find only the following in her fridge: bagels, chocolate, carrots, and diet Coke. Cooking is still more his thing than hers, but she's been known to turn out some pretty decent savory dishes. After numerous legendary botched birthday cakes, she's content to leave the fancy baking to him.
Rhiann is a writer. If you feel so inclined, you can check out her Author Blog. She's been an animal lover all her life and has been owned by cats, dogs, fish, a mouse, a hamster, and a horse. Not so long ago she ALMOST managed to talk Ron into getting a couple of goats (he has a real soft spot for them).
Tell Ron that with goats, he'll never again have to mow the lawn and they also love to eat weeds like poison ivy! ;)
ReplyDeleteLol. If we didn't live in a subdivision (HOA rules), I'd probably have succeeded with the goat campaign. I still fantasize about a little farmhouse, with goats. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
ReplyDeleteglad to meet yall and find your blog. We live in Rock Hill, SC.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you too, thanks for visiting! We haven't ventured far inland in SC, just driven the coast. What's it like there?
